What We Can Learn From Esther

I spent sometime listening to one of my favorite individuals who has a teaching ministry. He is a professor at the Reformed Theological Seminary in Oviedo, Florida.
His name is Dr. Steve Brown. I have mentioned Steve before in an article.
I don't necessarily agree with everything Steve has to say, but I don't know of anyone that I do. I do as always take the good, and throw away the bad. Whenever we speak, God reveals truths and then there is often our own opinions, subjective views and more involved. It is by listening we can build upon a foundation of truths and formulate what God has in store for us to learn, and by sincere study of scripture, so that we might know his will and to gain the mind of Christ, so that we may be transformed in our thinking from the ways of this world.

Steve tells a story that I have to share about the days Clinton was caught having illicit sex with his intern Monica Lewinsky. There was a mother sitting near by and a Rabbi when the Rabbi overheard the mother say, "What do I tell my children, how do I tell them what "The President has done"? The rabbi sitting nearby speaks up and says to her, tell them about the men of the Bible - David, Abraham, Jacob, Jeremiah, Hosea and others.

Steve thought at that moment about Peter the hypocrite in the New Testament as well and of course himself.

Esther is a book of lessons for us about evil. We can learn from it, now that the Gospel story has been told in the New Testament.
What is the lesson here for Christians?
The first lesson is that one has to know what evil is before they can ever recognize good.
We as believers often forget from whence we have fallen. Where we are in the secret places that only the Father knows about, our past, present or future.

Where evil lies at our doorstep, and we must not forget when we come together to fellowship, the reason that the pagans aren't standing beside us, in our presence isn't we are good, but that He is good. Thus we as believers know evil, because we first saw it in ourselves and then we saw what we deserved and found Him who didn't deserve what we did, who paid the price we could not pay. No, we stand in fellowship as a believer only when we have first seen our own reflection in the mirror of evil and then partaken of the Grace of God.

The religious are never saved, until they have kissed the demons of their own evil will they ever come to recognize the need for a Saviour. We can't get better, for there is no good in us in the first place. Only the resurrected life of Jesus Christ transforms us as He lives His life out through us. Christ in you, is the hope of glory.

The book of Esther offers us important lessons that we must know about evil.

First, we are not former beggars, but present beggars that have been given bread.

If we look into evil in the book of Esther we see that often the most evil people are God's own people. This story as well doesn't ring well with the religious for it is full of evil by God's own people and by the enemy of God's own people.

Remember the prostitute who had sinned much was forgiven much in the New Testament.

The religious do not see their own failure but think because of their works righteousness they are good. They look down on those who have had the joy of finding a Saviour, knowing their own demons and how much they needed deliverance and found it. They love much because of it. Those with little love for others and only themselves must first kiss the demon of their own lives before they too will realize the Grace of God.

Let's look at some key things in Esther.
We have a young lady who is Jewish one of God's chosen people, whose cousin, Mordecai decides to take her in as his one of his family to raise her because of parental absence. She is described as absolutely beautiful.
She is taken before the king because of her beauty and her being a virgin, so that the King can choose his new harem and one to become Queen in replacing his Ex.

The King is doing this because he is irate with his wife for acting like a Gloria Steinhem. She over ruled his authority when he asked her to basically to come over to his party that he was holding for himself and some good old buddies. He wanted to show off her beauty. Who knows to what extent in that day and age.
She refused to go and do as he asked, she had her own thing going. She was having her own little party with the girls. She was an "independent woman".
The king was so upset about her actions and afraid that other women would follow, he made it an edict that "the man should be master of his home". This edict was passed to all the men of his kingdom.
Reaction, not response.
Men! Can you remember a time when we have we been guilty of that before?
We have to set down the rules to the wife or else, we often feel. So, we go on our high horse that "we're the boss!" "Do what I say or I will replace you"
Does that sound familiar in America?

Anyway, the King in his vengeance toward his wife sets out to have all the beautiful virgin women in his kingdom brought to him to be part of his harem and to come before him.
Esther is brought in, made a part of his Harem of Virgins, but she does more than that she seduces the king greater than all the others in his harem to become more than just a harem girl. She makes it to the top (she is the successful kind of girl who knows how to get to the top) and she becomes the Queen. She gains his favor over all the rest.
She never tells the King until the end of the story that she is one of God's people- the Jews, and keeps it hidden until the perfect timing of God.

Sensuality and lack of testimony are two sins we can point out right away when we want to sit in the chair of judgement of others sins.

We soon find a close partner or advisor of the King, Haman who is not Jewish, who wants to kill off all the Jews, especially Mordecai, who would not pay him the respect he felt he deserved and desired. Mordecai just wouldnt bow down in his presence.
Evil again comes in to play it's part to this story.
Haman plans and he convinces the King to send out a decree against all the Jews for purpose of their death and destruction. He makes the old, their a threat to your rule argument, they aren't like us, they believe differently, talk differently and at differently. We can't have that.
Mordecai goes into mourning and makes a big noise about it while covered in sack cloth and ashes. The Jewish people follow suit.
Esther ask why? She gets her servant to get the answer from her people, then proceeds to plan how she might get before the King a hearing when not invited to save her people and Mordecai, which was a very serious thing to do to go before the king uninvited with an issue, and if the king didn't hold out his scepter to you the law was death. It would be like jumping over the fence at the Whitehouse and running across the Whitehouse lawn just to go tell the President something. You are going to die, I guarantee before you reached the doorstep you would catch a bullet in the back.
Only because of her beauty does she earn the Kings favor in the situation and he extends his scepter to her, whereby she proceeds to ask the King if he and her and Haman will attend a party she is going to give in honor of Haman. They come, then she plans a second party like the first where the Kings agrees he will attend along with Haman and just her again, because she so pleased the King at this first one.

Haman is jubilant over his special relationship with the two. On his leaving he runs across Mordecai again and it inflames him with more anger, then he goes home on a bragging binge about you guessed it, himself.
Anger comes easy while intoxicated and bragging does to. I never met a drunk that didn't think they were six foot tall and bullet proof.
I too in my day of drinking the cup while it was red, would feel the same way.

Anyway, Haman's family tells him to build a gallows in the morning and have Mordecai hung on it, then go to the party. So he built the special hanging place for Mordecai that day.
That evening King Xerses (Ahasuerus) is trying to go to sleep so he ask for a boring book basically to have read to him until he would fall asleep, he hears "the chronicles", which aren't the biblical book we are familiar with, but his own kingdoms records and he reads the story about Mordecai, saving his life at a point in time from a plot by two of his doormen to kill him. So the king asks, was this man ever honored for being the hero he was in saving his life? The answer of course was, "No"!
So on the next morning Haman goes to see the king, he goes there with the intent purpose of asking for permission to hang Mordecai. Haman, the one that has plotted against God's people and desires nothing more than like Hitler tried, to wipe out the entire race of Jews (God's only chosen under the Old Covenant), because of his hatred of Mordecai who doesn't give him the honor he wants from all men walks in and he is asked a question by the King.
"What is to be done for the man whom the king desires to honor?
Haman thinking egotistically as usual, thinks the King is talking about him, and goes on to name all kinds of things that would enrich "him" personally that the king should do. At the last moment, he finds out all the robes and finest horses he suggested be given to such a man- thinking he is the man, aren't at all to go to him, but to Mordecai. He is left mourning and covering his head.

The second party starts that day that Esther had planned and Haman comes over to drink some wine with Esther and the King. Esther reveals to the king that she is Jewish and that someone has planned to kill her and her people the Jews. She then reveals it is Haman. Not only does this get the Kings anger going being more than a little intoxicated, but he walks out into the garden only to find on his return, Haman has fallen across the couch onto Esther's lap to beg for mercy, and the King believes he is assaulting her, so he calls for Haman's death immediately.
Haman ends up dying on the very gallows that he had built at his home for Mordecai and the other Jews. The rest of the story is on how the king removes any threat for the Jewish people and how he honors Esther, her uncle Mordecai and the Jews.

I have told you bits and pieces because my motivation is to get you to read your Bible, and to read this book, it is a wonderful story if you don't read it through religious eyes.
Read it in light of the New Covenant of God's grace and election of all that believe that are now His chosen people. For there is neither Jew nor Greek, bondsman or freeman nor male nor female, for we are all one in Christ.

I would like you to read it so that you might see 3 key points made here about evil.

I want you to read it to understand who we are in Christ, who we were before we came to know him, and the extent of tribulation we will face as believers from evil, and the outcome of the battle we find ourselves in.

Haman's persistence to destroy all the Jews is because Mordecai won't honor him.
So, lesson one- We learn of the persistent and horrible nature of evil. Esther 3:6
When you go back you find Haman is a direct descent from the Agatite, who had been historically "bad to the bone". They were persistent in evil.

Evil is always persistent and horrible. It is especially for God's people, because if we won't honor the evil found in this world, we will find ourselves pursued by the enemy. He cares way too much for himself to not have you enrolled in his little wicked army. So thus, through much tribulation we enter the Kingdom of God.

Lesson Two - evil has always been directed at God's people.

It is persistent to steal, kill and destroy His people.

The very last lesson to know is that persistent protection is always there from God our Father, in His timing and in His way.

Look at Esther 4:14 and 10:3.

The Father in the worst of our circumstances already has a plan with a good outcome.

Jesus came to us individually in the worst of who we are and what we have done. Then the Father doesn't quit at that, he persist in making all things for those that love God, work to the good. Patience and knowing who we really are, evil people who deserve nothing but destruction like the rest of mankind, and knowing salvation doesn't come from us but from God our Father through Jesus Christ. He is our deliverer.
Evil will not quit in this world until Jesus returns, evil will not quit persisting after us, it will not be appeased until it can conquer our spirits and raise the flesh to it's self centered position one again.
Evil is often found with God's people, but he restores us as He did any of these that we read of in the Old Testament or the New.
It will always persist after those that are His, which "we are now His chosen", "His royal priesthood".
The facts are that the enemy Satan, and the world and the flesh they combined have it out for you, if you are a Christian.
The facts are that in this day and age, as Corrie ten Boom said, "persecution of Christians is greater today than even we can find described in the book of Revelations." She knew this, she had traveled and seen the persecution of our brothers and sisters in nations like China, Saudi Arabia and more. She too had known persecution in her life time as a Jew under Hitler and then as a Christian.

The final most important fact to know is to recall that the battle has already been won by our Lord and Savour Jesus Christ and the final facts of the wars' outcome are known.

Let us look at Colossians 2:9-15 and Revelations 20:10

Present Truth
... for in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and in him ye are made full, who is the head of all principality and power:
in whom ye were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ; having been buried with him in baptism, wherein ye were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. And you, being dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, you, I say, did he make alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses; having blotted out the bond written in ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us:and he hath taken it out that way, nailing it to the cross; having despoiled the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Future Truth

.. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where are also the beast and the false prophet; and they shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Now my hope is that you have kissed your own demons and recognize that they for you as a believer hold no power over your life, for your life is now hidden in Christ Jesus with God the Father. Covered by His blood, set free by his death and most importantly His resurrected life within us, we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus who gave his life for you and me.
A life to the grave and a life to resurrection.
Evil awaits every corner, no one is safe from it on their own. Our only victory lies in the hope within us, Christ who comes to live in us through the person of the Holy Spirit.
Don't laugh, don't judge others when you see them overtaken by evil. We love to make comments as Protestants about what is going on in the Catholic church with the priest, but don't forget we have our own, Jimmy Swaggerts and Jim Bakers and other men that have fallen prey to the lure of evil.
Kiss the demons in your own life (see yourself in a mirror), and then find deliverance from God from the evil that awaits and lurks around every corner to steal, kill and destroy, For without the Father's mercy and grace, you too will fail.
Evil is persistent, but God's deliverance and plan for us is more persistent, as the "victory has already been won".
Fall into the arms of Jesus, and know this, though we are just beggars at the table like all men, God has given us bread to eat, and wine to drink - his life for us.
Eat of Him and drink of Him who will come to sup with you, if you but just answer the door to His knocking on your heart. His promises are ours, and when we read the Old Testament in light of knowing the New Covenant of Grace, it becomes a story for us all to read and to learn from. It is a shadow and just a story until you know Christ and then there is so much gold in the simple story of a beautiful girl that we can learn from. We must remember we have to know the enemy to defeat it. Evil is our enemy, and God's holiness, His righteousness and His truth given to us freely who do not deserve it, are our only weapons against this dark world we live in.

Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread

This morning I was talking with a Christian friend of mine by telephone. We were sharing our need for an income and our desperate job hunts, that have not been successful.
Since November of last year, I know that I have applied for or sent out nearly a 100 resumes and applications. No response, or whatever response, they never followed through. I have even used networking as they suggest trying to obtain a good position once again. All to no avail, as of yet. As we ended our conversation, we had come to that place reminding each other, that God has promised to give us "our daily bread". I wished only those around us understood these things.
It is hard to make others understand the plight you feel you are in, when they just seem to think, that you aren't trying. They think surely you would have been hired by now if you were really looking. Just look at all the job ads in the newspaper.
I have attempted to gain positions at the bottom rung of the ladder as well as those that I am qualified, skilled and experienced at, to no avail.
I was even beginning to believe I might have a former employer for whatever reason that may be black balling me from obtaining future employment. I went so far as to obtain someone to do a reference check on me, to find that my employers were providing me an excellent reference.
The only reason I can conclude that I am not receiving calls is my age. Now, you ask, "how do they know your age?"
It is easy to ascertain that from a resume or application by looking at your education and when you graduated.
I will in 11 days be 54 years old. August 12, 2007, I will have lived long enough and grown wise enough to recognize pure and simple discrimination by age.
It is one of the most exercised discriminatory unwritten policies of HR departments today. Many men my age find themselves losing jobs even to only find out later they hired someone to replace them that are much younger.
Furthermore, the latest practices of HR departments is to run a credit check and in some cases they manage to even obtain your health information. If you have reached my age, and have perfect health, you have been blessed by God. If you reached my age, and don't believe in the credit of this world, and yet somehow you obtained a good credit reference check, then you are blessed beyond what is imaginable in this day and age of high medical cost. I have some poor credit, and I will admit it.
My credit was wiped out in 1996, when my first wife became ill with a problem that she was born with that is called "AVM's" or "Arterial Venous Malformations".
I have a good friend who understands this malformation of veins in the brain. This is not a very well known problem by most. He understands because he will be crippled the rest of his life because of it. It results in strokes and aneurysms. He has the full extent of this rare defect one can be born with and what it results in.

I had credit in those days, because I like most had fallen into this world's enticements, for things material beyond our needs.
I was unemployed due to our office shutting down with WorldCom's mass assimilation of taking all the small companies they had acquistioned and moving them into one big location far away from where I lived. We were struggling with threats from the IRS on our taxes and being harassed by those we had obtained loans from. We had no choice but to file, a Chapter 13 bankruptcy to find relief. It has ruined my credit since. Though in less than two years we had it discharged to try to pay the bills we owed again once we had both gone back to work. You never recover once you are under the slavery of debt. My bad credit is still there. Why any of us, ever get conned into playing God, I will never understand. Thos offering credit ask us to play God, as if we know what tommorrow will bring, as if we know whether we will be alive, working, earning the same amount of money the day we signed on. It doesn't matter how small amount or large amount, if you owe it and can't pay it because we can't control our future, they want it and they want it NOW! Thus Jesus told us not make oaths, but to keep our yea, yea, and our nay, nay. Thus the whole Word of God tells us not to be in debt. There is a difference in having to pay our electric or our water, or telephone on a monthly basis. These an be argued though that they too are not necessarily basic needs. The Word tells us to be content with food and clothing because we brought nothing into this world and we can't carry anything out. When one lives on this basis, knowing God will provide, we will not be anxious for tommorrow. We will thank God for what He provided today. We will just work today for our daily bread and not live our lives for our future greeds or those things that have so enslaved us to them now. We are to live the simple life described in Ecclesiastes, as anything beyond that is greed and results in a life of vanity of vanities.
To enjoy the fruit of your labor and to fear God is the wise mans conclusion. All else is useless and leads to an unhappy life.

The question is, what does credit have to do with work ability, skills, devotion, job experience? Why is it this world thinks that if you are one to enslave yourself to credit cards and other debt that makes for a good employee? Why has this world become so enamored with the idea of being enslaved to jobs from daylight to darkness to have things that don't matter? Why does this world think it is a wonderful thing to sacrifice relationships with others for the sake of the dollar? More relationships are destroyed over wanting more or thinking you don't have enough of something than one an imagine. More divorces and family break ups are over the worshipped dollar more than anything else.
Even in the car insurance industry, credit has become a criteria for obtaining lower rates versus, higher insurance rates. What does that having to do with driving skills, experience, longevity as a driver without accidents, etc.?
Our world has become sin sick with greed, money and power. The more you subscribe to these things the more likely you are to be a good job candidate. You better go in there on the interview and tell them you want to be a huge success and make a million by the end of the year or you just shot your opportunity at a job. You better go into an interview and tell the world what they want to hear.
Figure that one out! It isn't hard to conclude why.
I do my best to live on less than $120.00 per week. Sometimes less, sometimes just a little more, very little more. I get by, but only by the grace of God and other's help for shelter, some help me with my special needs like purchasing my medication, but they can't always help. I have Diabetes 2 (not under control), nerve deafness in my hearing, damaged kidneys, swollen prostrate like most older men. I also have had diverticulitis since age 45, and have had two heart attacks since than as well,Atrial Fibillation, and I also suffer from Crohn's Disease and Post Traumatic Stress, Fatigue Syndrome and at one time my physicians had me on 27 pills a day.
I quit everything but a about 3 medications. One, I couldnt afford them, two I couldnt function on them, and three, I did something outside of prescription treatment to help myself. I am still working on that to eliminate the three other mediations. However, the physical damage already done is done. Some of the problems are do to our lifestyles when young and many others are just flat due to we live in a world where everything we eat along with the air we breathe and the water we drink is polluted with chemicals and cancer calling agents.
For example I got my Crohns disease under control by no longer drinking milk. I did this because research has shown that though milk is homegenized and pastureized, it doesn't kill paratuberculosis which attack the small bowel resulting in infection in the lining of the bowel. Milk also has hundreds of antibiotics and other induced chemicals that can cause all kinds of serious illnesses. I quit it and it worked.

My little check I earn each week feeds me, and purchases gasoline to go to work or where I need to go when told by the Lord to do so, like visiting friends in need, helping the children, taking a friend to the doctors or wherever it may be, I still limit any travel for just my self. There are no pleasure runs, or driving around for fun or going to the store on a whim.

Yes, I have applied for even the minimal jobs, like working as counter help, cashiers, driving a vehicle for deliveries, even tossing news papers.
All to no avail.
I have begun to believe there is an unwritten rule that old people should be shot and put out of their misery or just left alone to die in loneliness. Whatever the prevailing attitude is, it is for real against the elderly worker in this country.

So, what do you do, you do what Christ told us to do, you pray "give us this day, our daily bread". You smile, you go on doing the best you can, you don't give up hope, and you thank God for every little gift he gives you to sustain your life.

My friend reminded me, of this when we spoke. We recalled that God has promised nothing more than our daily bread. Jesus taught us not to be anxious over these things, and taught us that God would provide our needs. I have to admit He does provide for my basic needs. I am not living under a viaduct, like many Americans are, I am not on the soup line, like so many Americans are, I am not having to panhandle for my daily bread. God brings it to me, and I am thankful for it.

Here is my prayer which can be found in two places in the Bible:

Lord do not make me so rich that I would forsake you,
but don't allow me to be so poor that I would steal.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us Lord of our trespasses, as we forgive those who have trespassed against us.

These last words from the Lord's prayer, provide us with much more wisdom then all the world could ever offer. I pray everyday that I live my life accordingly.

Today, I pray with emphasis, Give "US" this day our daily bread.
Not just in the physical sense Lord but what we need most in the spiritual "to forgive others who have sinned against us."
Give us your spirit of grace and mercy toward everyone we encounter in this life. Be it friend or foe, teach us Lord, that your bread provided contains nourishment for all areas of our life. Emotionally, spiritually and physically. Remind us that you are the great Creator of heaven and earth and all that we see or can encounter here, belongs to you and that nothing for you Lord is too hard.
Thank you this day, for giving me this day, and Lord let me do my very best with it, for your glory and not mine. Help me Lord not to be discouraged but to find encouragement by encouraging others in this life. Let me encourage all my brothers and sisters in all that I do and say this day.
Amen

Everyday is difficult, but our God never promised us a "rose garden" without thorns.
The Word of God says, "that through much tribulation we enter the Kingdom of God".

That sure blows the Health, Wealth and Prosperity teachers theology away- doesn't it?

Also for those that believe that theology, they would have no need to pray "Lord give us our daily bread" if it is ours by faith in faith rather than faith in God.
If we can lay claim by words as if we were a god to prosperity materially, and demand from God something he never promises, then where does the tribulation ever come in? God isn't there for our beckon call on greed. He is there for our care and nourishment as His creation. We are not gods, as Copeland likes to tell everyone.
Kenneth Copeland fell for the oldest lie told in the garden of Eden which started this whole mess in the first place.

No, my prayer is "Give us this day our daily bread" That means dependence on a Sovereign God,a Holy God and not a little god that I control in my toy box for my sake and fleshly pleasures, like so many of these false prophets proclaim.

"Give us this day our daily bread"

Harvey Industries, Lorax and the Still Remaining Mess

I have been bothered for sometime by the site of the ugly fence, and to be honest the ugly building located on Hwy 2494, near the intersection of Hwy 31, for sometime now. It is the location of the old Curtis Mathis building and what became known as Harvey Industries later and then Lorax took over it, and God knows who else is in there now. I guess what disturbs me the most is the fence around the end closest to Hwy 31, that is posted to "Keep Out". Why does it disturb me, because sometime back about 7 years ago, I recall seeing this site listed on the EPA's Super Cleanup Fund. It is no longer there, nor can I find it there in the database. Perhaps, I was only imagining it. Though with some research, I did find it is still listed on the Texas Department of Waste and Water Treatment web site as a still listed Super Cleanup Fund site. To get a little history here, let me pass on the word for word information I found on their Texas government web site:

Harvey Industries, Inc. (a.k.a. Harvey Joint Venture)and Curtis Mathes Manufacturing Company operated a manufacturing facility on 87.779 acres, located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Farm Road 2495 and Texas 31 (One Curtis Mathes Drive) in Athens. The facility, known as Harvey Industries, Inc., was used to manufacture television cabinets and circuit boards on site. Large amounts of paint sludge accumulated on site in 55-gallon drums. In 1972, Curtis Mathes began the process of converting a clay pit on the west side of the site into a landfill, which went into operation in 1973, and was reported to have received office wastes, plant cafeteria wastes, cardboard, particle board, vinyl, wood, sawdust, metal cans, dried paint wastes, and incinerator ash. In December 1981 and January 1982, Curtis Mathes conducted a fire training school at the site to dispose of the backlog of chemical wastes accumulated over a 20-year period. In July 1985, Harvey Industries, Inc., entered into a a compliance agreement with the Texas Department of Water Resources (TDWR), requiring Harvey to submit a closure plan for cleanup of the fire training pit. In November, Harvey Industries completed drilling 19 soil borings around the fire training pit to investigate subsurface conditions. According to an April 1986 report, Harvey Industries said analysis of samples collected from the wells indicated the presence of methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), isobutyl alcohol and toluene in the groundwater beneath the former fire training pit. Harvey installed a groundwater recovery and treatment system for the fire training pit in 1989. The treated water was discharged to the City of Athens wastewater treatment plant. The company filed for Chapter 7 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in 1992 and the water treatment plant was abandoned. In November 1993, the state entered into an agreeement with a third party, Lorax Corp., which allowed Lorax Corp. to clean up the on-site warehouse in exchange for leasing the warehouse.

My question is, if a site is cleaned up, isn't that suppose to imply that it is cleaned up and made safe again. If so, why is it still there?
Groundwater, is nothing to play around with.

Here is a definition as offered by Scientist at the University of New Mexico.

Groundwater

Groundwater begins with rain and snowmelt that seeps or infiltrates into the ground. The amount of water that seeps into the ground varies widely from place to place according to the type of land surface that is present. In porous surface material that water readily seeps through, such as sand or gravel, 40 to 50 percent of the rain and snowmelt may seep into the ground. Seepage into less porous surface material may range from 5 to 20 percent . The remainder of the rain and snowmelt runs off the land surface into streams or returns to the atmosphere by evaporation.

Seepage into the ground is also strongly influenced by the season of the year. Evaporation is greater during the warm months, including evaporation through plant leaves, known as transpiration. During the cold months, the ground may be frozen, hindering water seepage, and evaporation is less.

So here we have some very polluted groundwater, that seeps downward and upward depending upon the season. if one peeps through the fence they will see the highly polluted groundwater. I have yet to see the fence come down, clean up taking place except what may be defined as cleanup by the authorities. My point is, cleanup cannot be cleanup as naturally defined by the word itself. How can it be called this, when yet the mess remains?

This water can run of into streams, the watertable if close enough to the surface, and even evaporate into the air. How much of this are the citizens of Athens being subjected to in breathing, the air, and drinking the water, or even swimming and boating in Lake Athens?

I don't have the answer. The question still remains why isn't this cleaned up?
The building is being used, that is plain to see, but is there any clean up going on, or is that all just an illusion to make us feel safer about the pollution that took place there.

All I can say for a small city, we sure have a lot of cancer death here. What is the origin of all this cancer?

In the book of Genesis 1:31 - God saw all that he had made and it was very good.

I have heard it said, that the Global Warming, and other things that have become news worthy items these days, are liberal bunk, and money driven, and political rhetoric, but is it?

Many people believe because of what God said to Noah in Genesis 8:21-22, specifically "that as long as the earth endures (the approriate Hebrew interpretation of the English translation "remains"),seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease, that all of this about climate changing and etc. is a bunch of bunk.

Let's look for a moment, at this passage again, it says as long as the earth "endures" or let's even take it to some of the translations rendering of this word as "remains".
Now the leading into this is this statement in the thought of God (for He said in His heart), he says as long as the earth remains. Somewhere in His thinking to my opinion, he wasn't saying it will endure, he is saying as long as it does. Now, you ask yourself, why would God knowing all things start His thought with a possibility that it may not?

Now, once again, following my thought about this. He knew man. He was saying until such time that He God decides to destroy it "or man destroys it, there would be the promise of these things.

I know most people have read little about Global Warming or even studied pollution. I have written for materials from leading scientific government studies, outside sources and more. There is a very real global warming taking place, more drought, hotter days. Matter of fact we have raised our temperatures on earth about 1 degree recently and within in the next few years - true projections are 2 degrees. That doesnt sound like a lot. However it is. Now as to all the projections that we are facing an immediate end as the human race because of this, I doubt it. However, because of these factors, pollution both air, water and our food, we are killing the earth which God gave us, and told us to care for and to have dominion over it. Specifically, Genesis 1:26 - Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and birds of the air, over the livesock, over all the earth, and over all creatures that move along the ground.

Just as God intended us to be made into His image, which is the restoration of all things by Christ to the believer. To be made in that image once again, this lays even a greater responsibility upon us who call ourselves Christian to speak out about pollution, of the air, the water and our food.

We cannot excuse the abuse of those, "blinded by the god of this world" in destroying our earth for greed and money.

Yes, I believe Christians should be concious of the ecology even more so than some of those who claim to be. We cannot change the abuse of this ecology, through political actions, or political marches. Concern for the creation of God, will only come when a man is changed in His heart, and is restored to the image of God, by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Then, when this action takes place, concern for all of creation will become a concern, as God cares, he cared so much to have the thought, that " as long as the earth endures".

What does the earth have to endure but the abuse of mankind.
If you are a Christian, then you above all people should be concerned with saving planet earth from the destruction of evil men and companies who care less for it's ability to provide us with the things we need, clean air, water and food.

When will clean up really mean clean up.
When man listens to truth, and recalls, that He was created in the image of God, and with that the Lord gave us a mighty responsibility to be fruitful and multiply, not destroy and kill. To care for this planet that grows ever smaller and ever polluted because of our greed and disregard for the creation and the creatures he gave us dominion over.

I close with this.
Be concious of the ecological practices of our community, your state, your country and the world. The earth can only endure so much of man's abuse. Remember, scripture says that all creation groans inwardly awaiting the revelation of the sons (plural) of God. Guess who they are - Christian - you and I. When the resurrected Jesus Christ begins to reveal himself through those He paid the price for and He has come to live in them through the indwelling Holy Spirit, there will be a concern for all of creation and all men, women and children. There will be a concern over the greed and money that drives the pollution, the genetic tampering of our foods, the waste of good energy, the production of energy from polluting sources. The oil mania that drives our wars, the cars we drive that create awful air pollution, etc. The destruction and pollution of our water resources, the destroying of natural habitat for animals just to build more buildings and super highways. If these things don't concern you as a Christian, then why do they concern God so,that He makes a promise "if" only the earth endures?

BTW(by the way), what is the story on cleaning up the mess down there by Highway 31, can anybody tell me?

Peanut Butter and Illness

I have a thought, just follow me for a moment. Peanut Butter, is one of most kids, favorite foods or at least a part of every diet. We have had illness after illness locally here. Schools have shutdown due to the high absenteeism. Brownsboro just recently had a closure because of so many kids out with "flu-like" symptoms.
Let's see what they say about Salmonella.
"A food borne illness that can cause death if not treated with antibiotics, salmonella's symptoms include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps. I also know that it can cause vomiting as well.
Now if your child is having the above symptoms, did you stop to think, perhaps they too ate Peanut Butter sometime in the past few months.
I know how serious Salmonella can be, my mother in-law and father in-law, were both hospitalized in horrible conditions due to this from food they ate at a Greek restaurant in Florida where they resided. My Father in-law was unconscious and unresponsive for weeks, and then eventually died soon after, my mother in-law died two weeks before he did. This is not a sickness, to just take for granted. It will flat kill you, especially if your very young, or very old.
I thank God that he puts His protective hand over us at times, as just the night that this report came out, I was going to come home and have a Peanut Butter sandwich with Grape jelly. Guess what, I didn't and I got sidetracked and instead ate in town. That evening the report was on the news and I checked the new bottle of Peanut Butter I had bought at China Land (Walmart) and it had the 2111 number on the lid. I would probably be laid up sick or even dying, if I would have came home and ate my favorite sandwich. I have loved peanut butter and jelly since I was a kid. Folks, Salmonella is serious stuff.
Salmonella is not just a little bug or flu, it's such an important bacteria that Salmonella sickens about 40,000 people a year in the U.S. and kills about 600 people a year!
Now, how did this deadly bacteria get in Peanut Butter which is supposed to die when Peanut Butter is a cooked food before it is ever put in the jars?
Well it seems the CDC may have determined that it was the jars that the bacteria is in. Who knows?
The stranger part of this all is that the strain in this outbreak, Salmonella serotype Tennessee, is comparatively rare, as is salmonella contamination of peanut products, said Caroline Smith DeWaal, director of food safety at the Center for Science in the Public Interest.
Wow, another odd strain of something. Follow me for a moment. If anyone read about project PROJECT SHAD that the U.S. government experimented with things like Salmonella, etc, by spraying U.S. warships with these nasty little bacterias and such?
You are probably not, most people live their lives with rose colored glasses on. Well, if you do some digging, you will find the DOD site pertaining to this now declassified project.
Project SHAD, an acronym for Shipboard Hazard and Defense, was part of the joint service chemical and biological warfare test program conducted during the 1960s. Project SHAD encompassed tests designed to identify US warships' vulnerabilities to attacks with chemical or biological warfare agents and to develop procedures to respond to such attacks while maintaining a war-fighting capability. Although classified, the Department of Defense has been actively pursuing declassification of relevant medical information. To date twelve SHAD projects have been evaluated and released for your review.
The SHAD program planned as many as a hundred individual tests and was part of the larger Deseret Test Center program. Many tests were never actually executed. DoD investigators plan to look at all Deseret Test Center’s chemical and biological tests conducted between 1963 and 1970
Of the 4,300 sailors known to be involved (exposed), to our knowledge, only 622 have been notified.
For example DTC 48-50 was Staphylococcal Enterotoxin a type B toxin. A tracer in the aerosol was used called, Bacillus subtilis var. niger, another obnoxious little bacteria. They sprayed the U.S. Granville S. Hall and some 5 Army tugs with this stuff. This hasn't been the first time the U.S. has played havoc with lives by experimenting all in the name of War!
Now, here we are, all this talk about Terrorism, and worries over even our food chain being possibly poisoned by Terrorist it makes you wonder, hmm.
Perhaps, we need to be more conscious of the fact that experiments have been done in the past and they have been done in the present and knowing governments, they will be done in the future.
Maybe, this just started out as a small experiment from someone, and it grew. In the past year we have had all kinds of food scares like the PROJECT POPEYE - I call it, when our fresh Spinach went haywire for awhile there. Boy did, I miss my Spinach salad with olive oil then.
Now ConAgra one of the conglomerate food companies that has swallowed up a lot of farms and other small food production companies, is responsible for making hundreds sick since August with Salmonella. Of course, they say, not us, or maybe it was the jars. Anyway, this NWO food conglomerate has been in trouble more than once. ConAgra Inc. was charged in the past with fraud and fined $4.4 million according to the Corporate Crime Reporter 12(1), March 24, 1997.
So, who knows what exactly goes on out there, maybe they bought their jars real cheap from an Eco-Terrorist or something. Maybe, the government set this up, as a test, maybe it was all an accident (doubtful, considering the rarity of the type of Salmonella) but either way, we need to as Americans realize when we gave up producing our own food, raising our own cattle, etc., we were in for some trouble.
I heard a guy in 1977 talk about all this coming- he was truly a prophet in the sense he knew where it was all going, the end of the American Farmer and small companies. See, the theory was back then that the Tri-Lateral Commission- David Rockefeller and a lot of elitist cronies, wanted to gain 4 things as the primary stock holders, and that was food, oil, banking and water. If you have control of these, you control the world. Well, the day of small man doing small things is gone to the large companies doing, large things, and enslaving you to them. I know this sounds like bunk to most people, but as a Christian, I have devoted myself to exposing evil to the light. It takes time and effort and lots of research to do so. You are welcome to check out the facts for yourself.
Anyway, I digress, back to Peanut Butter. I sure miss those sandwiches right now. If I only "had wishes", if I only had my own farm, my own peanuts, my own wheat, maybe it would be safe to eat again, but it is beginning to seem that's not possible anymore. Enjoy, your spinach salad for now folks, until the next time your kids come home from school sick, ask what they have been eating, the flu just may be food poisoning. What do we do now? Perhaps we quit eating, have our kids bring the school lunch home before they eat it, so we can send it all of to a lab to be tested first. Now, there's a great idea for new business, come up with a pocket test kit, to test your food for poisons and other toxins before you eat. I think I'll work on that idea next and come up with it and become a large conglomerate business selling these to parents, so they can protect their kids and their own selves from the dangers of this crazy world we live in now.
